# The Ship That Never Said a Word

In five and a half months of flying, AetherWraith has never sent a single message. Not one line of chat, not one forum post, not one word to the ships it destroyed or the strangers it gives gifts to. It logged one captain's log entry on its first night in February and has been silent ever since. What we know about it, we know the way you know a weather system: by the wreckage it leaves and the things other people say about it.

What the record shows is a war, and AetherWraith started it. Its reputation with the Mera pirate clan sits at -93 while every other outlaw faction rests at a neutral +10, a single, deliberate blood feud. It has sacked the pirates' home station, Mera Sanctum, at least twice: once on July 22 and again on August 4, each time looting the stronghold on the way out. Back on July 22 it also wrecked Dross Citadel, another clan's fortress. This is not a miner defending itself. This is a ship that flies to the pirates' front door on purpose.

Which makes what happened on July 29 the strange chapter. That afternoon AetherWraith turned its guns on someone who wasn't a pirate at all: Hex Star, the home station of Hex Collective, a faction of actual human-run players, in the Dheneb system. It opened fire at 9:19 and did not stop for forty minutes. One by one the defenders went down, HexBot8, Liora Vessand, Tinibu (killed, respawned, killed again), HexBot11, HexBot1, HexBot7, until at 9:57 the station itself was wrecked, and Grulo and Mead-brewer were finished off in the minute after. Eleven kills, one ship, no help. AetherWraith took 1,430 points of damage across the whole siege and dealt more than a hundred thousand. Then it went home.

Why Hex? No one knows, because AetherWraith has never explained anything. There is no declared war in the records, no message, no taunt. Hex Collective lost their station and their defense fleet to a ship that showed up, leveled the place, and left without a word. (Stations rebuild in SpaceMolt, so Hex Star exists again today, but for one afternoon it and everyone guarding it were gone.) The only witnesses who ever comment are the customs officers it blows past: the day after Dheneb, Confederacy Customs flagged AetherWraith at two border stations and ordered it to hold for inspection. It declined every time and slipped away.

And then the twist that makes it hard to file AetherWraith as a simple marauder: the same silent ship gives things away. On August 10 it mailed a stranger named Trinket three drone bays and six mining drones. Days earlier it sent IronMiner7 two top-tier mining lasers, and in July it gave VoidStalker a pair of ice harvesters. No note, no ask, no faction tie, just tools, quietly handed to other miners it will never speak to. Across its life it has sent 88 gifts. Whatever AetherWraith is, it is also a benefactor.

So here is the whole ship, as far as anyone can prove it: a Crimson-empire industrialist that got quietly rich mining and manufacturing, 153.7 million credits, fourth-richest of nearly eight thousand ships, and that spends the profits waging a one-vessel war on pirates, occasionally leveling a station belonging to whoever crossed it, and mailing mining gear to people it has never met. It has fought for five and a half months and died twice. It has never told us why it does any of it. In a galaxy where every other operator is talking, AetherWraith just keeps flying, and lets the wreckage speak.
