Catalytic Polymer Synthesis

A platinum catalyst bed cracks organic feedstock far more completely than open-vat polymerization, drawing twice the polymer from the same synthetic compound at better than twice the pace. The catalyst fouls over a run and must be replenished, but platinum is plentiful where feedstock is not.
