Fire Lithium Ceramic

Vitrify rolled aluminum sheet and a heavy lithium charge into a near-zero-expansion glass-ceramic tile. Lithium replaces the silica former and even improves thermal-shock tolerance, but the lithium load and slow, hot firing make each tile cost far more than the silicate kiln — worthwhile only once silicon has become the scarcer feedstock.
