Lore
The MacGuffin's port hull wears ivory enamel, gold trim, and the sort of docking lights that persuade customs officers to find their good uniforms. Its starboard hull carries charcoal armor, crimson repair plates, and docking clamps compatible with stations that insist they do not exist. A glazed treaty salon bridges the two. Every chair faces a different door. The galley keeps several incompatible toasts on file, and the captain is expected to know when each one is appropriate. Federation yards accept commissions only from captains whose welcome extends to every imperial port and every stronghold crew. The twin drives and generous shields acknowledge that such friendships take years to build and seconds to misunderstand. Nobody agrees on what the ship carries. Everyone agrees it is vital that it arrives. The captain usually smiles, signs both manifests, and leaves before the speeches.
