The Omniscience-class does not study phenomena from a distance. Its organic sensor arrays extend into the fabric of whatever it is observing, becoming temporarily entangled with the subject of study. Research data from an Omniscience contains information that was not and could not have been measured by the instruments aboard. Solarian peer reviewers have taken to flagging Voidborn research papers with the note "results reproducible, methodology incomprehensible." Nine utility slots support a sensor architecture that other empires describe as "excessive" and the Collective describes as "barely adequate."
